Itinerary: 7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi or Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our friendly driver will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. After check-in, relax and freshen up from your journey. In the evening, you’ll meet with your professional mountain guide for a comprehensive pre-climb briefing and gear check to ensure everything is in place for a safe and successful climb. Overnight stay at a comfortable lodge or hotel.
Day 2: Marangu Gate (1,870m) – Mandara Hut (2,700m)
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Marangu Gate where your climb officially begins. Following registration and permit formalities, you’ll begin a 4–5 hour trek through the verdant rainforest. The trail is alive with lush greenery, chirping birds, and playful colobus monkeys. You'll stop along the way for a packed lunch and then continue until you reach Mandara Hut. Once settled, you can explore the nearby Maundi Crater for panoramic views of Kenya. Dinner is served in the communal dining hut. Overnight in shared dormitory-style accommodation.

Day 3: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Depart Mandara Hut after breakfast and ascend through the last section of forest before entering the heath and moorland zone. The trail opens up, revealing stunning views of Mawenzi Peak and the expansive landscape. The path leads steadily uphill through a mixture of rocky terrain and grassy hills, adorned with giant lobelias and other unique alpine vegetation. After 6–7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Horombo Hut. Here, you’ll rest, enjoy a warm meal, and admire the sunset over the mountain.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
This is a crucial day for acclimatization. After breakfast, you’ll go on a short acclimatization hike toward Zebra Rocks (3,980m) or Mawenzi Ridge. The hike is designed to help your body adjust to the altitude, which is vital for a successful summit attempt. After your acclimatization trek, return to Horombo Hut for lunch. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, journaling, or taking photographs. Dinner and overnight again at Horombo Hut.

Day 5: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Today’s trek is long but rewarding. After an early breakfast, you’ll hike through the alpine desert, a barren and dusty landscape with incredible views. The route passes the Last Water Point and enters the vast Saddle—a high-altitude desert between Mawenzi and Kibo. The terrain here is dry, windy, and otherworldly. By early afternoon, you’ll reach Kibo Hut. After a warm meal and summit briefing, you’ll rest in preparation for the midnight climb to the summit.

Day 6: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut
Summit day! The most challenging yet rewarding part of the climb begins just after midnight. Using headlamps, you’ll ascend slowly in the dark, taking breaks at key points such as Hans Meyer Cave before reaching Gilman’s Point (5,685m) at sunrise. The final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) along the crater rim is tough but unforgettable. After soaking in your achievement and taking summit photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and continue down to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved overnight stay.

Day 7: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Transfer to Hotel
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the moorland and lush rainforest, retracing your steps to Marangu Gate. Along the way, you’ll pass through changing vegetation zones and enjoy one last walk in the forest. Upon arrival at the gate, you’ll receive your climbing certificate as proof of your incredible achievement. Our driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
