It’s a shared safari, meaning you’ll join a small group of other travelers and enjoy the journey together in a 4x4 vehicle with a knowledgeable safari guide. The trip starts and ends in Arusha and covers two top destinations: Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. On day one, you’ll explore Tarangire, famous for its big elephant herds, open savannah, and baobab trees. You’ll then spend the night in the town of Karatu, near the Ngorongoro highlands. On day two, you’ll descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, home to a wide variety of animals including lions, black rhinos, hippos, buffalo, and more. This short adventure offers a great wildlife experience and is ideal for solo travelers, couples, or friends looking to join others on a fun and affordable trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park - Karatu

Your group safari starts with morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha at around 7:30 AM. You’ll drive about 2.5 hours southwest to Tarangire National Park. The park is known for its large elephant population, scenic baobab trees, and many animals gathering near the Tarangire River. You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. Keep an eye out for lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffalo, and many species of birds. In the late afternoon, the group will leave the park and head to Karatu, a small town in the highlands near Ngorongoro.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater - Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive. This is one of the best places in Tanzania to see wildlife in a compact area. Look out for black rhinos, hippos, zebras, lions, hyenas, and flamingos around the lakes. You’ll have a picnic lunch at a scenic spot near a hippo pool. After lunch, the group will begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. Drop-off will be at your hotel or the city center.
