Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
You will start at the quiet Londorossi Gate and walk through lush rainforest alive with birds and colobus monkeys. The trail is gentle and shady, perfect for a relaxed first day. By late afternoon you’ll reach Mti Mkubwa, where your spacious luxury tent, warm bedding, and a hearty dinner are waiting.

Day 2 – Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
You’ll leave the forest and climb steadily into open moorland dotted with giant heather and wildflowers. As the trees thin, wide views of the Shira Plateau unfold. You’ll pause for photos and water breaks before settling into Shira 1 Camp to watch the sun set behind Mount Meru.

Day 3 – Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

Day 4 – Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
You will climb steadily to Lava Tower at 4,600 m for lunch, an excellent way to help your body acclimatize. Later, you’ll descend into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant groundsels and sheer cliffs. Your deluxe tent and a hot dinner will be ready when you arrive.

Day 5 – Barranco to Karanga Camp

Day 6 – Karanga Acclimatization Day

Day 7 – Karanga to Barafu Camp
You’ll continue upward through alpine desert toward Barafu Camp, the high base for your summit push. The landscape is stark and beautiful, with views of Mawenzi and the glaciers above. After an early gourmet dinner, you’ll rest in your comfortable tent and prepare for the midnight climb.

Day 8 – Summit Uhuru Peak, Descend to Mweka Gate and Drive to Moshi
Around midnight you’ll begin the final ascent with your guide. Step by step, you’ll reach Stella Point as the first light appears, then continue to Uhuru Peak for a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise at 5,895 m. After celebrating and taking photos, you’ll descend to Barafu for a meal and continue down to Mweka Gate, where a private vehicle takes you back to Moshi for a hot shower and a luxurious hotel stay.
