Non – game viewing time: 2 – 3 hrs

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Tarangire is well known for its large elephant population, ancient baobab trees and beautiful landscapes. The park is home to a large variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes and many species of birds.

The Tarangire River is the main source of water for wildlife during the dry season, attracting large numbers of animals to the park. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and continue with an afternoon game drive before departing for Karatu in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your lodge in Karatu.

  • MEALS: Lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast
  • ACCOMMODATION: Karatu Lodge or similar Accommodation

Day 2 : Karatu – Serengeti National Park

Distance: 145km

Non – game viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs

After breakfast, depart from Karatu and drive towards Serengeti National Park through the beautiful high lying farmland and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.

We then head towards the central Serengeti area, known as the Seronera area. This is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source and attracts wildlife throughout the year. The area is home to lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, hippos and many other animals.

Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti.

  • MEALS: Lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast
  • ACCOMMODATION: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar Accommodation

Day 3 : Full Day Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

Full day Serengeti National Park game drive

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch. The Serengeti is one of the most famous wildlife areas in Africa and is well known for the Great Wildebeest Migration.

During the game drive, you will have the opportunity to see large herds of wildebeests and zebras as well as predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas and, with some luck, leopards. The Serengeti also supports elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos and many species of birds.

Your guide will choose the best areas to explore depending on the season, recent wildlife movements and road conditions. After the game drive, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

  • MEALS: Lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast
  • ACCOMMODATION: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar Accommodation

Day 4 : Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Karatu

Distance: 145km

Non – game viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in the Serengeti before departing towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We leave the endless plains of the Serengeti behind and drive towards the Ngorongoro highlands.

Depending on the time available, we may make a short stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important archaeological sites in East Africa, where important discoveries have helped scientists understand the early history of human evolution.

Continue to Karatu in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

  • MEALS: Lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast
  • ACCOMMODATION: Karatu Lodge or similar Accommodation

Day 5 : Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Distance: 190km / 4–5 hrs

Non – game viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs

After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater and descend over 600 meters into the crater for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife areas and supports a wide variety of animals throughout the year.

The crater floor is home to large herds of wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs and hippos. It is also an excellent place to see predators such as lions, hyenas and, with some luck, cheetahs and leopards. The crater’s water sources and grasslands attract wildlife throughout the year.

We will also visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake on the crater floor where flamingos and other water birds can usually be seen.

After the game drive, ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon, where the safari ends.

  • MEALS: Breakfast and lunch
