Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Lemosho Gate – Shira Camp

Depart Arusha early morning and drive to Lemosho Gate (approx. 3–4 hours). Complete registration and begin the climb through lush rainforest. The trail is shaded, rich in flora, and often accompanied by birds and small wildlife. Enjoy a packed lunch en route and reach Shira Camp by afternoon. Settle into your luxury tent and enjoy dinner prepared by the camp chef. Overnight at Shira Camp.

Day 2: Shira Camp – Moir Camp

Continue the ascent through the Shira Plateau, witnessing breathtaking views of Mount Meru in the distance. The trail passes moorlands and unique vegetation. Have a packed lunch on the trail. Arrive at Moir Camp in the late afternoon, where you’ll relax, enjoy dinner, and acclimatize for the climb ahead.

Day 3: Moir Camp – Barranco Camp

Hike through the expansive lava ridge and approach the scenic Barranco Valley. This is a long day with moderate difficulty, but the views and wildlife sightings make it rewarding. Day 4: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Begin the day by ascending the Barranco Wall, a thrilling climb with incredible panoramic views. Descend into the Karanga Valley for lunch. The trail continues along the alpine desert zone. Arrive at Karanga Camp, enjoy dinner, and rest for the upcoming high-altitude climb.

Day 5: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Hike from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the base for the final summit push. The terrain becomes rocky and sparse. Arrive at Barafu Camp by afternoon and prepare gear for the midnight ascent. Early dinner is served, and rest is recommended for a successful summit attempt.

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Start the summit attempt around midnight for the best sunrise views. Climb through the alpine desert to Stella Point and finally to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Celebrate your achievement at Africa’s highest summit. Begin descent to Barafu for lunch and continue down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 7: Mweka Camp – Arusha
