Here, you’ll enjoy exciting game drives to spot elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many other wild animals. After exploring the plains of Mikumi, you’ll continue to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, often called the “Galapagos of Africa” because of its unique plants and animals. You’ll hike through tropical rainforest trails, listen to birds singing, and reach the beautiful Sanje Waterfalls, where you can relax and take photos of the amazing views. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

You’ll start your journey early in the morning from Dar es Salaam and drive towards Mikumi, passing through beautiful countryside, small villages, and scenic landscapes. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, you’ll go for your first evening game drive in Mikumi, where you might spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, and even lions as the sun sets over the plains.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, you’ll spend the entire day exploring Mikumi National Park. The open savannah and acacia woodland make it easy to spot wildlife. You’ll see herds of buffalo, wildebeests, hippos, and antelopes, as well as many colorful birds. Your driver-guide will take you to the best spots for animal sightings and share interesting facts about their behavior. You’ll have a picnic lunch inside the park and continue your adventure until evening.

Day 3: Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (Hiking Day)

After breakfast, you’ll drive for about 1–2 hours to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local hiking guide and start your trek to Sanje Waterfalls, the park’s most famous attraction. The trail passes through lush rainforest filled with monkeys, butterflies, and rare plants. When you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and a refreshing natural pool at the base of the waterfall a perfect place to relax. After the hike, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
