This 3-day Selous safari gives you the chance to see Tanzania’s wild side without traveling too far. You’ll leave Dar es Salaam and head to Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s biggest wildlife areas. Here, you’ll spend your days exploring the bush in a safari vehicle, watching elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many more animals in their natural home. A special highlight is the boat safari on the Rufiji River, where you’ll float past hippos, crocodiles, and colorful birds while enjoying the peaceful water scenery. You’ll also go on a walking safari with an expert local guide, where you’ll learn about animal tracks, plants, and the small details you don’t see from a car. Each night, you’ll relax in a lodge or tented camp, have dinner, and listen to the sounds of the wild around you. This safari is short, easy to plan, and full of adventure perfect if you want a real African experience in just a few days.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous (Boat Safari)

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam in the morning and drive about 5–6 hours to Selous. When you arrive, you’ll check in, have lunch, and rest a little. In the afternoon, you’ll go on a boat safari along the Rufiji River. You’ll see hippos, crocodiles, elephants coming to drink, and many birds. After, you’ll head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Selous

Today you’ll spend the whole day on a game drive. You’ll take a packed lunch and explore the park, looking for elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, and maybe lions or wild dogs. You’ll drive through open plains, riversides, and woodlands, so there’s always something new to see. In the evening, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Walking Safari - Drive Back to Dar es Salaam

After an early breakfast, you’ll go for a walking safari with a local guide. You’ll get close to nature, learning about plants, tracks, and smaller animals that you usually miss in the car. After the walk, you’ll start your journey back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the afternoon. The safari ends when you’re dropped off at your hotel.
