On the second day, you’ll explore the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa. With its high predator density, including lions and spotted hyenas, plus large herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and the rare black rhinoceros, the crater floor offers excellent chances to witness the Big Five in just one game drive. With comfortable midrange accommodation and meals included, this short but thrilling safari ensures an unforgettable experience packed into just 48 hours.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Depart from Arusha after breakfast and drive through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. You'll enjoy a full-day game drive through the park’s diverse habitats, including forest, woodland, grassland, and the lake itself. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, baboons, and a rich variety of birdlife such as pelicans and flamingos. Keep watch for the elusive tree-climbing lions often resting in the acacia trees. Later in the afternoon, you’ll drive to your comfortable midrange lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After an early breakfast, head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater floor offers incredible density of wildlife, including lions, hyenas, jackals, herds of wildebeest, zebras, and elephants. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, with time to soak in the spectacular landscape. With some luck, you may spot the endangered black rhino and complete your Big Five sightings. After the safari, you’ll return to Arusha by late afternoon where the tour ends.
