Nestled between the Pare and Usambara Mountains, with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mkomazi is known for its rich biodiversity, the rare chance to see African wild dogs, and its special Rhino Sanctuary. This trip is ideal for travelers looking for a quieter safari experience away from the busier parks, while still enjoying diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.

 Day by Day Itinerary.

Day 1: Arusha/Moshi – Mkomazi National Park
You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and start your journey towards Mkomazi National Park. The drive offers beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Pare Mountains. On arrival, you will begin your first game drive exploring the park’s diverse wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, elands, and oryx. After a picnic lunch inside the park, continue with an afternoon visit to the Rhino Sanctuary, where you may spot the endangered black rhino up close. In the evening, enjoy a short sunset game drive before heading to Same town or a lodge near the park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mkomazi National Park – Arusha/Moshi
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive, the best time to spot predators and a wide range of birdlife. You will have the chance to explore different corners of the park for more wildlife encounters, including hartebeests, wildebeests, and, with some luck, African wild dogs. Later in the day, enjoy a picnic brunch before departing the park. You will then drive back to Moshi (around 3 hours) or Arusha (around 5 hours), arriving in the late afternoon for drop-off at your hotel.
