Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a special conservation area created to protect and grow Uganda’s rhino population. The sanctuary is large and quiet, filled with natural vegetation where the rhinos live and move freely. During your walking safari, rangers guide you along safe paths and explain how they track the rhinos every day. You also learn about how the rhinos became endangered and how the sanctuary is helping them recover. Besides rhinos, the sanctuary has many birds, reptiles, and small animals that you may spot along the way. The visit is peaceful, educational, and gives you a rare chance to see rhinos on foot without crowds.

Budongo Forest Reserve

Budongo Forest is part of the Murchison Falls Conservation Area and is known for its large population of chimpanzees. The forest is covered with old mahogany trees, deep green vegetation, and wildlife-filled habitats. The chimpanzee trekking experience takes you along clean forest trails where your ranger listens for chimp calls, broken branches, and fresh signs to find their location. Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Transfer to Budongo Forest

Your guide picks you up early from Kampala or Entebbe and you begin a scenic drive through local villages, forests, and farmland. When you arrive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you meet trained rangers who lead you on a safe walking adventure to find the rhinos. You observe them feeding, resting, and moving freely in the sanctuary while learning how conservation efforts are bringing rhinos back to Uganda.

After your rhino walk, you have lunch and continue driving to Budongo Forest. The forest is cool, green, and peaceful, great for relaxing after your day’s adventure. Once you arrive at the lodge, you check in, enjoy a warm shower, explore the area, or simply rest while listening to the sounds of nature. In the evening, you enjoy dinner prepared at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Return to Kampala/Entebbe

You start your day with an early breakfast before heading to the park office for a short briefing. A trained ranger then takes you into the forest to begin your chimpanzee trekking experience. The walk is calm and enjoyable, with fresh forest air, birds singing, and beautiful scenery all around. When you find the chimpanzees, you spend time watching how they climb trees, communicate, play, and feed. Rangers also explain their behavior and the important conservation work done to protect them.

After the trek, you enjoy lunch and begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. The journey is relaxed and gives you time to reflect on your amazing wildlife encounters. You arrive in the evening, marking the end of your safari.
