Itinerary

Day 1: Hotel – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

Your adventure begins with a transfer from your hotel to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, where you will complete the registration formalities. The trek starts with a gradual hike through the lush forest, home to wildlife such as buffalos, giraffes, bushbucks, and colobus monkeys. After 4–6 hours of hiking, you will arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut

After breakfast, ascend steadily through a mix of montane forest and giant heather zones. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of Mount Meru’s crater and the Ash Cone. The trek takes about 3–5 hours before reaching Saddle Hut (3,570m). In the afternoon, you can take a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for breathtaking sunset views. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba Hut

An early midnight start will take you to the summit. With the help of your guide, climb steeply to Socialist Peak (4,566m), reaching the summit at sunrise to witness a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Rift Valley, and Mount Meru’s crater. After celebrating your success, descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast and continue down to Miriakamba Hut for overnight. 

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Hotel

After breakfast, descend gently through the forest to Momella Gate, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mount Meru adventure.
