Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – Machame Gate to Machame Camp
You will start at Machame Gate, greeted by the fresh mountain air and the sounds of the forest. You’ll hike through lush rainforest filled with colorful birds, butterflies, and playful monkeys. The trail is steep but gentle enough to enjoy the scenery. By afternoon, you’ll reach Machame Camp, set up your tent, rest, and enjoy your first hot dinner on the mountain while taking in the forested surroundings.

Day 2 – Machame Camp to Shira Camp
You’ll leave the rainforest behind and climb steadily onto the Shira Plateau. You’ll be amazed by sweeping views of the plains below, giant heather, and unusual alpine plants. You’ll stop frequently to rest, take photos, and drink water, letting your body adjust. Shira Camp offers a peaceful spot to watch the sunset, relax, and enjoy the crisp mountain air.

Day 3 – Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

After lunch, you’ll descend slightly into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and unique alpine vegetation. You’ll enjoy the dramatic scenery, take photos, and relax at Barranco Camp while the evening sky changes color.

You’ll see jagged rocks, glacial valleys, and vast open landscapes. You’ll eat an early dinner, prepare your gear, and rest in your tent to get ready for the night’s summit attempt.

Day 6 – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, Descend to Mweka Camp
You’ll start around midnight for the summit climb under the stars. Step by step, you’ll reach Stella Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak to watch the unforgettable sunrise over the summit. You’ll take photos, celebrate, and feel the thrill of reaching the top of Africa. After the summit, you’ll descend to Barafu Camp for a meal, then continue down to Mweka Camp to rest. After breakfast, you’ll walk to Mweka Gate and drive back to Moshi for a shower, a final meal, and memories of your incredible climb.
