Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park – Full Day Safari

The journey begins early in the morning with a hotel pick-up in Dar es Salaam at 6:00 AM. Guests are transferred to the SGR station for a comfortable and efficient train journey toward Morogoro. Upon arrival at approximately 9:30 AM, a transfer vehicle will be ready to take you directly to Mikumi National Park.

By mid-morning, the safari begins with a guided game drive across the open savannah, often compared to the Serengeti plains. Mikumi is home to a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and numerous bird species. Your professional guide will provide detailed insights into animal behavior, habitats, and the park’s ecosystem.

At around 1:00 PM, you will stop for a well-prepared buffet lunch in a designated picnic area within the park. After lunch, the safari continues, giving you further opportunities to observe wildlife during the afternoon when animals gather near water sources.

At approximately 5:00 PM, you will exit the park and proceed to Camp Bastian Lodge for check-in. Dinner will be served at the lodge, followed by an overnight stay on a full-board basis.

Day 2: Mikumi Safari and Return to Dar es Salaam

The second day starts with an early breakfast followed by a morning game drive beginning at 7:00 AM. This is one of the best times to experience the park, as wildlife is most active during the cooler hours of the day. You may have the chance to spot predators returning from hunting or herds grazing in the open plains.

The game drive continues until approximately 1:00 PM, when you will stop for lunch. After a short rest, the return journey to Dar es Salaam begins at around 2:00 PM, with an expected arrival at 4:00 PM, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
