5-Day Tanzania Safari Detailed Itinerary

Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. Tanzania’s third-largest park is famous for its giant baobab trees and the Tarangire River, which attracts large herds of elephants. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch while looking out for lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and lesser-known species like oryx and eland. After an adventurous day, check into your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, head towards Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its tree-climbing lions and thousands of flamingos along the lake’s edge, the park also offers lush forests and rolling hills. Spend the day on game drives and enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Wildlife to look for includes elephants, giraffes, hippos, buffalo, baboons, and a variety of birds. Return to your lodge or camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Depart after breakfast for Serengeti National Park, crossing scenic landscapes and endless grassy plains. Stop for a picnic lunch on the way or within the park during your afternoon game drive. The Serengeti is home to the great herds of wildebeest and zebras, and you may also see lions lounging under acacia trees, cheetahs hunting, or leopards resting in the branches. Spend the night at your lodge or luxury camp in central Serengeti, enjoying dinner under the African sky.

Begin the day with breakfast before setting out for a full-day game drive across the Serengeti’s plains. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park. Today is perfect for spotting predators in action, watching large herds graze, and taking in the endless plains. Expect to see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, lions, and possibly cheetahs or hyenas. Return to your accommodation for a relaxed dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s wildlife encounters.

After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater floor for a half-day game drive, where you may encounter the Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino. The crater’s unique ecosystem also hosts hippos, zebras, flamingos, and abundant birdlife. Following the game drive, enjoy a scenic drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon to conclude your 5-day Tanzanian safari adventure.
